We are excited to announce the book launch of Khentrul Rinpoche’s new book – The Realm of Shambhala. As part of the launch Rinpoche will give a talk on his reasons for writing the book and present the true meaning of Shambhala from different aspects.
Khentrul Rinpoche provides a thorough explanation of Shambhala that joins practical teachings with a cosmic vision for humanity rooted in ancient prophecy. The Kalachakra Tantra foresees a golden age of love and compassion, when the individual peace attained through Kalachakra practice spreads to humankind as a whole. The Realm of Shambhala lays out a vision for how we can cultivate an unbiased mind, overcome our collective afflictions, and usher in an era of perfect peace and harmony.
In-Person This will be a free in-person event at Tibetan Buddhist Rime Institute. Spaced are limited as well as copies of the books for signing. We encourage you to RSVP and reserve a copy of the book on the Tibetan Rime Buddhist Institute website in advance to secure a copy in Australia. https://rimebuddhism.com/events/the-realm-of-shambhala-book-launch/
Online It will be livestreamed for the global community on Khentrul Rinpoche’s Facebook page with translations available in Zoom.

“The Realm of Shambhala is a creative discussion of the legendary Buddhist utopia, presenting both the traditional perspective and Shar Khentrul Jamphel Lodrö’s own unique interpretations. The concept of Shambhala as a pure realm on earth, famous as the source of the Kalachakra teachings, is here expanded to include Shambhala as a state of mind that practitioners aspire to bring into experience.”—Cyrus Stearns, author of The Buddha from Dolpo: A Study of the Life and Thought of the Tibetan Master Dolpopa Sherab Gyaltsen
“This book brings to light the little known Jonangpas’ perspectives on Shambhala and on the formation of the Shambhala tradition in Tibet. Khentrul Rinpoche here argues for various, mutually connected planes of Shambhala’s existence that can be experienced at different stages of practice, and he shows how Shambhala can be experienced in this very life. Therefore, this book will be of interest and benefit not only to scholars and students of Tibetan Buddhism but also to practitioners of the Kalachakra Tantra.”—Vesna Wallace, author of The Inner Kālacakratantra: A Buddhist Tantric View of the Individual

Having a sense of community unites us. Being a part of a community can make us feel as though we are a part of something greater than ourselves and can provide countless opportunities for growth and experience.
We’d love to meet you and share an afternoon of food, fun & conversation.
About this 21 Taras Drolmi Kazug Auspicious Fortune Puja System Khentrul Rinpoche spent 5 months in semi-retreat preparing this puja for the whole world. Because of our economic and health situation in the world, Rinpoche would like to do the most extensive version of this Puja that has never been done in this way before. This offering practice has both worldly and Dharmic benefits to create success in all areas of life.
Often times people want to solve their large worldly problems or obstacles in a very simple way. They try a practice or two to remedy the problem but their wishes are not fulfilled. This is because the remedy is too small and simple to actually create the correct conditions. For anything to happen there are millions of karmic conditions that have to ripen. Also for anything to ripen, the amount of our own generosity and conditions we put into the remedy affect the result.
This Jonang Drolmi Kazug puja was revealed from a mind terma of Lama Yonten Sangpo and Lama Lodro Drakpa. It is the most detailed and extensive offering puja to create causes and conditions to ripen good luck and fortune. It works with every aspect of our natal astrological chart. In it we make offerings to an incredible number of classes of beings that we normally ignore in our day to day life to affect these karma areas determined at the moment of your birth.
It purifies the participants unfixed karmas which create obstacles such as diseases, spirit or demon harm, and bad fortune so that we may experience fame, good fortune, prosperity, vitality, long-life and good health to practice the Dharma to benefit all sentient beings. Rinpoche has determined that now is the right time to do this puja for us for the first time. Together we need to create the best possible conditions to manifest the Golden Age of Peace and Harmony.

Often times students find a huge contradiction in their minds between Amitabha pureland practices and those of Shambhala. The common question is do I need to give up one and focus on the other. Khentrul Rinpoche will illuminate the non-contradictory nature and help us better understand the options and how they fit together.
Khentrul Rinpoche’s root Guru, Lama Lobsang Trinlé an incredible Kalachakra master who taught the teachings of Shambhala, also did an Amitabha practice daily for his entire life. He said whoever had devotion to him and Amitabha would surely reach the Pureland. These two Purelands are both incredibly powerful spaces with different approaches to reach them.
What’s Included in the 1-Day Retreat – Oral Transmission of the practices of Shambhala and Amitabha – Commentary and explanation on 5 practices of Amitabha from Dolpopa, Taranatha, Bamda Gelek Gyatso, Lama Tsoknyi, and Lama Lutrin – Commentary and explanation of 3 prayers for Shambhala from Dolpopa and Khentrul Rinpoche – Clarity between the two Purelands

This is an incredible opportunity to learn how to practice pujas to generate vast amounts of merit and purification. In Vajrayana there are many types of burnt offering pujas that utilize fire. They can be sorted into 3 main categories, Sur (smell offering), Sang Chö (smoke offering) and Jinsek (fire offering).
All of these practices have incredibly profound meaning at their core which creates the conditions for the accumulation of both merit and wisdom simultaneously. While each practice invites the Buddha, Bodhisattvas, dharma protectors, local deities, beings of the 6 realms amongst all others to the practice, they have different focuses for the karma they are working with.
Khentrul Rinpoche has kindly agreed to teach us about these three types of burnt offerings. He has composed and arranged compositions of these pujas that a student can do in a less complicated form at home after this workshop.
Sur Dotgu Kuntsol – The Gift of all needs
The Sur is a smell offering that uses fire to burn a collection of offerings to create a sent offering. The main focus is all the bardo beings, hungry ghosts, whoever has incredible suffering, and whomever we have a karmic debt to. This is commonly used as an offering to purify our own and our ancestors karmic debt for the benefit of all sentient beings.
Sang Chodtrun Gyatso – The Ocean of offerings
While this one invites all the buddha, bodhisattvas and deities the main emphasis is on the local deities and dharma protectors. The sang chö (smoke) offering helps to clear karmic obstacles in our samsaric life in to have a precious human birth to practice dharma.
Jinsek Dropan Gyatso – The Ocean of Benefits
There are many types of Jinsek but they all focus on purification. There is extensive offering with many different substance made into fire that are each linked to creating different beneficial results. This creates the condition to purify anybody’s negative karma and their body.
100 Million Merit-Multiplying Day
These meritorious offering pujas and teachings fall on Lhabab Duchen, the auspicious day when Buddha Shakyamuni descended to Earth from the God Realm of the Thirty-Three after teaching Dharma to the gods, and his mother, Mayadevi. As a merit multiplying day, the karmic results of actions done on this day are multiplied 100 million times for the benefit of all sentient beings. Since all of these pujas help to purify and clear different types of obstacles and karmic conditions, the three combined on this day are incredibly powerful.
Why make financial offerings for a Puja?
Many people enjoy watching various Pujas online performed by Lamas believing they are receiving a huge benefit. It is also common in the West for people to ask a lama to pray for them without making any offering or having a personal connection. While as one of all sentient being you are connected to the results of the Puja made for the benefit of all sentient being, the karmic connection is incredibly weak and therefore so is the result. Normally during certain times in one’s life when a Puja are prayers are required to clear various karmic debts, obstacles, or karmically based illness, it is customary to make financial offerings to the Lama for prayers and Pujas. This create a stronger Karmic connection to the Puja which creates a stronger karmic result.
Practical Teaching Includes:
Teaching on the different types of fire Pujas Sur, Sang Chö and Jinsek
Demonstration of how to do each type of Puja
Instructions and prayers so you can practice them yourself

There will be opportunity for questions and sharing throughout the day.
