At an early age, Julie searched for a deeper meaning to life until finally at the age of 22 found the precious Buddhist path of Dharma. She dedicated her life to the practice, living in temples and serving teachers from around the world practicing the Buddhist teachings and living according to its principles. Julie has spent the last 34 years practicing this ancient path and for the past twelve years has lived at the Tibetan Buddhist Rime Institute in Tecoma helping the resident teacher Khentrul Rinpoche.

Julie is now one of the senior teachers at the temple giving classes on meditation and basic Buddhist principals that can be applied to our everyday lives. Julie also manages the temple and arranges a program of courses, tours and fundraising activities to support the temple.

Welcome to our beginner’s class designed for individuals who are curious about the teachings of the Buddha and wish to explore the foundational aspects of Buddhism. These classes are available in person or online.

This class serves as an introduction to the essential principles of Buddhist practice, which are primarily rooted in the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path. We will explore the idea of cause and effect, often referred to in Buddhist teachings as karma, and how our actions can shape our present and future experiences. We will also discuss the concept of rebirth, which emphasises the continuity of life and the significance of our choices in this lifetime.

Additionally, we will reflect on the preciousness of human life and the opportunities it offers for spiritual growth and development. We will discuss the importance of cultivating virtue in our daily lives, as this is essential for personal transformation and contributing positively to the world around us.

This class is designed as a drop-in session, meaning that you can join us at any time without prior commitment. We warmly welcome everyone, from complete novices to those with some background in Buddhism.

To enhance your understanding of the topics that Julie will cover in this class, we recommend the following reading: Unveiling Your Sacred Truth: Book 1
