GURU PADMASAMBHAVA

BE THE LAMP THAT LIGHTS THE WAY

Give the Gift that Keeps on Giving

While you can’t take any of your stuff with you, you can reap the benefits of the virtue and merit in future lives. Give the gift that keeps on giving for the benefit of yourself and all sentient beings to reach enlightenment.

Recognising that lasting genuine happiness is only possible through profound
personal transformation, Khentrul Rinpoché’s main focus is to introduce the world to the unique path of the Kalachakra Tantra. Our mission is to generate the causes for global peace and harmony by practicing in accordance with the principles of the Kalachakra Tantra. It is Rinpoché’s mission to bring this wisdom into the world at a time when it is so desperately needed.

KHENTRUL RINPOCHE'S ASPIRATION

Help the Dharma Flourish

One of the most beneficial and fruitful ways to help Rinpoche achieve his mission is to leave a legacy towards the flourishing of the precious Kalachakra teachings. Since ancient times, the great Buddhist masters and their activities have been supported almost entirely through the generosity of their students and sponsors. into the world at a time when it is so desperately needed.

ARRANGE SUPPORT FOR THE TIME OF DEATH

Prayers and Practices

The time of death is a fantastic opportunity to realize the teachings. It can also be a confusing time for Buddhist practitioners living in the West. There is not a lot of clear support about what to do at the moment of death.

We care very deeply that people have the best possible conditions for themselves or their loved ones at the time of Death. While the best way to prepare is to practice in daily live, there are also many practices that can be arranged at the time of death to help purify karma and enable a better future rebirth. While you are planning your estate it is very important to think of and make arrangements to die well and in peace.   If you would like help with this, please check the box on the form and we will share further information.

HOW TO LEAVE YOUR GIFT

In order for the Kalachakra teachings to flourish and continue to benefit people for generations to come, your help is essential. By remembering the Tibetan Buddhist Rime Institute Inc in your will you can make a vital and lasting contribution to sustaining the propagation of the Kalachakra teachings to the modern world where they are so urgently needed.

We strongly advise you to consult a solicitor and your state Law Society to prepare your will so that your wishes are carried out exactly as you intend and your tax liabilities are minimised.

You can make a specific gift towards the activities of the Tibetan Buddhist Rime Institute Inc and thereby help Khentrul Rinpoche and our community to continue providing teachings and programs for people throughout the World.

Example Wording for Your Will

We recommend that your attorney help you write up specific instructions for the executor of your estate.

In general, gifts of money from a deceased estate are not subject to tax. In some cases, gifts of jewellery, works of art, buildings, or stocks and bonds from a deceased estate may be subject to Capital Gains Tax (CGT) before it is paid to the Tibetan Buddhist Rime Institute Inc.

You may wish to use the following wording for a gift to the Tibetan Buddhist Rime Institute but please note: this is not legal advice.

For Gifts to The Tibetan Buddhist Rime Institute Inc

“I Give and Bequeath to the Tibetan Buddhist Rime Institute Inc (An Incorporated Association registered with Consumer Affairs Victoria under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981 registration number: A0048241K)

the whole of my Estate of whatsoever kind and wheresoever situated
……..% of my Estate
and/or the sum of $…. free of all duties and taxes payable at my death

and I declare that the receipt of the Secretary or other Proper Officer for the time being of the Tibetan Buddhist Rime Institute Inc shall be sufficient discharge for my trustees. It is my wish and intention that these funds be retained and used in full by the Tibetan Buddhist Rime Institute Inc for its general teaching purposes. If at my death the Tibetan Buddhist Rime Institute Inc has ceased to exist or has amalgamated with another organisation or has changed its name my trustees shall pay this legacy to the organisation that, in their discretion, they consider most nearly fulfils the objects of the original organisation.

Note: This should be followed by the statement, “after the payment of all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses and all duties, taxes and charges payable on my Estate at my death.”

If you name a number of ‘residuary’ beneficiaries in your Will, not all of which are charities, you may also wish to include the following clause, to ensure the Tibetan Buddhist Rime Institute Inc receives the full value of your gift, free of Capital Gains Tax.

I declare that if the share in my Estate of any beneficiary named in clause [..insert clause number…] does not qualify for exemption from Capital Gains Tax, that share shall bear its own Capital Gains Tax so that the amount received by each beneficiary named in that clause, before the payment of Capital Gains Tax, is the same.

By the Wills Act, all Wills and Codicils must be in writing, signed by the Testator, and attested by two witnesses in the presence of the Testator and each other.

Note 1: It is important to identify the property clearly and ensure that the description is accurate, as an error of detail may cause the gift to fail. If, however, the property is of a replaceable or non-specific nature, it may be more useful to refer to the property generically as that of its type existing in the Estate at the date of death. Eg. Shares, jewellery, real property, money, work of art, etc.

MEMORIALS AT DZOKDEN SHAMBHALA

Liberation Upon Death

After the process of dying is complete, usually ashes can be purified and made into tsa tsa. We are constructing a Kalachakra Stupa for Liberation in the Sublime Realm of Shambhala. Ashes of the deceased can be placed beneath and around this stupa with the aspiration that it connects them to a rebirth in the Sublime Realm of Shambhala.  In Australia at our retreat center Dzokden Shambhala we are building a memorial area.

Please tell us of your planned bequest. This will be of tremendous help in planning
our future development and will enable us to acknowledge and dedicate your gift in
the most appropriate way.
