Offer a Prayer Flag

At the Rime Institue, we can raise flags for you or your loved ones; living or dead. In Tibetan Buddhism the act of raising flags is directly connected to your, Lungta, your life force energy and vitality. When you are having bad luck or fallen on difficult times, facing challenges with health, one cause may be that your lungta is low. Each flags you raise touches the elements such as the wind and water. The wind blows the mantras to animals insects, sentient beings, and unseen beings, helping to purify their negative karma. Raising flags and dedicating them to benefit all sentient beings is incredibly powerful way to make merit. In Tibet, families offer a lot of flags when a loved one passes away, to help generate merit for their future rebirth. Every year we write names and offer prayer flags that have been donated during the month of Saka Dawa specifically to multiply the merit for those who have sponsored them. We can also offer your flags when you make your offering if you prefer that for immediate remedy.

Offer Flowers to Arya Tara

Offer Flowers and Plants to Arya Tara

Khentrul Rinpoche says the Divine female nature is nurturing and abundant like a fertile land. We would like to offer the new Arya Tara statue an abundant garden.  The key to creating abundance in our lives is through our generosity. So together from our heart, let us offer the new Arya Tara white marble statue a land of beauty to inspire as many beings as possible towards the Dharma. In a fertile land a small seed grows huge. If we purposely plant, they grow a lot. Whoever has generosity has everything because generosity is the starting point of the 6 perfections.  

From the sutra Distinguishing the Aspects of Karma (Lanam Je): There are ten benefits of offering flowers [to objects such as the buddhas, statues, stupas, scriptures, etc.]:

1. One becomes like a flower in the world. (You will be very beautiful; everyone will be attracted and amazed to look at you and will remember seeing you.)
2. The sense of smell will never degenerate. (Some people have sicknesses in the nose so that the sense of smell doesn’t function.)
3. One will never have bad body odor. (This will be completely purified.)
4. A smell of scented nectar will come from the body.
5. The smell of the morality of the person will spread in all directions and corners.
6. One will be a leader of the world. (One will be a leader of people, of the world, of holy beings.)
7. One will achieve beautiful attractive things.
8. One will have great wealth.
9. One will be reborn in a higher rebirth.
10. One will quickly achieve enlightenment, the great liberation.

Offer Flowers to the Wishfulfilling Tara

According to Khentrul Rinpoche: Flower offerings to Tara are best for more specific and urgent concerns. He has instructed us to keep flowering plants around the Wishfullfilling Tara all year.  We regularly plant seasonal flowers as an offering to her. 

Benefits of offering flowers in general
It is helpful to remind ourselves that the benefits below may not ripen immediately. Think that we are generating conditions for them to ripen. The Kalachakra Tsok offering is a great gathering of yogis and yoginis practicing the dharma for the benefit of all beings. It is a practice that accumulates vast amounts of merit and wisdom. The gathering of the offerings of food, drink, incense, song, and dance is transformed into a feast ceremony that we perform monthly at the Tibetan Buddhist Rime Institute.
