Teachings on the Nyingma Tradition with HE Rigzin Chenpo
At the request of Khentrul Rinpoche, His Eminence Kathog Rigzin Chenpo will give five days of profound teachings on the extraordinary history and unique views of each of the five main traditions of Tibetan Buddhism—Nyingma, Sakya, Kagyu, Jonang and Geluk.
The first tradition that that we will explore is the Nyingma Tradition that arose primarily from the teachings of the great Indian saint Padmasambhava, known throughout Tibet as Guru Rinpoche (meaning “precious teacher”). With the help of the Indian Pandita Shantarakshita and his main disciple the Tibetan King Trisong Deutsen, Padmasambhava successfully established Vajrayana Buddhism in Tibet.
It is within the Nyingma tradition that we find the profound view of Dzogchen, which means “Great Perfection”. This extremely direct and unelaborate path provides deep insight into the nature of the mind and our perception of the world.
