We are pleased to invite everyone to the annual Tibetan Buddhist Rime Institute Open Day on Sunday 20th August 2017.
Open day gives families and friends an opportunity to visit the temple, enjoy some meditation and find out about the many activities we offer to our local community.
Once a year we offer a special chance for everyone to view our rare and precious 24 Armed Kalachakra statue. Information sessions will be held throughout the day which explain the meaning of the different features of the statue and their significance to our everyday life.
We have chosen this date because of the significance of there being a total solar eclipse. Full moon and solar eclipse days have special significance within the Kalachakra Tantra teachings as it is said that the Buddha first taught the Kalachakra Tantra on a full moon day. It is also considered a particularly special day for practice as karmic actions are significantly multiplied. The solar eclipse also has influence over our internal universe as it is said to slow the flow of the network of inner winds making it easier to direct them into the central channel, bringing us closer to our own enlightenment.
The open day will run from 10am-4pm and will have a variety of activities and classes for everyone to enjoy. We will be offering adult and children's meditation classes, food stalls, goods stalls and giving people the opportunity to view the statue and talk to some of the Rime members. It will be a great community day for those who wish to come along and see what we are all about.
